Context of the Episode:
Every year the UWVC honors those who served in Vietnam, remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and carries on the legacy of our Vietnam veterans by offering services and information to veterans of all eras. The event begins with the reading of the names of the 1,741 New Yorkers who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, as well as those who died in Iraq, Afghanistan and other post-9/11 operations. It is followed by a wreath laying at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, with tribute to Gold Star Families. Featuring NY City and State proclamations, speakers, musical performances, and salute from our Post 9-11 veterans. It concludes with a veterans resource expo where Vietnam-era and older generations will learn about opportunities to upgrade their benefits (or to apply for new benefits) that reflect their changing needs as they age. During the expo fair we had a live recording of Basecamp!
