Mark’s Motivation Monday – Lisa McCabe’s 2nd Grade Class

At the 2016 NYC Veterans Day Parade I met a representative from Annin Flag Makers who presented me with a few 3×5 American flags as a gift. When I heard about a teacher who’s been teaching her students about patriotism throughout her 30+ year career I decided to make good use of one of those flags. I set out on ruck march and covered 100 miles over the coarse of a few weeks with a 45lbs Ruck while carrying the flag to spread patriotism in honor of this teacher. Upon finishing the ruck march I went to Lisa Lenartowicz McCabe’s school and presented her with the flag in front of the student body and some of her family and friends. Her 2nd grade class recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang a few patriotic songs for me. Since then, Lisa’s students have provided the UWVC with cards that they created to thank veteran’s for their service. Our Ops Team and I hand delivered these cards to wounded veterans over Valentine’s Day. It was wonderful to witness Lisa being recognized by VFW2179 for her outstanding service to our community tonight. I presented her with the UWVC challenge coin as well. She in turn presented me with more handmade cards from her students. I look forward to delivering these cards and spreading some more joy to our wounded veterans.
