Memorial Day 2019

The UWVC team marched in two Memorial Day Parades  – with Mark Otto at the first event Red Bank, NJ Memorial Day Parade and the remainder of the team in the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade.

The Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade included a float and one team member and one volunteer passing out 500 flags and patriotic stickers to attendees.

From our Executive Director Mark Otto:

It was an honor and a pleasure representing the United War Veterans Council, Inc. and being Grand Marshal for the 1st Red Bank NJ, Memorial Day Parade in 50 years.

The Navesink River area is full of patriotic supporters of the UWVC Health and Wellness Program which is focused on assisting “at risk” veterans. Many of whom are suffering from the hidden wounds of war.

The wreath laying ceremony was respectfully centered around paying tribute to our fallen heroes. However, it was uplifting to see the many organizations that either participated in the parade or came out to pay their respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
