UWVC Health & Wellness Update – January 2, 2019

January 2, 2019

Today I hosted 9 veterans along the Navesink River area of NJ.

Texas Roadhouse in Holmdel opened its doors to serve us a wonderful BBQ lunch.

Trevor took to the saddle as we all sang happy birthday cowboy style! At 23 heʼs the youngest veteran in our program and is a former Army parachute rigger.

We did some farm work helping to stack hay before heading over to ForeLuck Farm where the staff at Serenity Stables From Combat To Calm led an equine session.

Among us were 6 Army and 3 Navy Veterans of which 4 served during the Cold War and 5 had Post 9/11 Service.

4 were new to the program and 5 had been out as many as ten times.

Feedback has been consistent that the program offers a positive emotional outlet for the participating veterans.

This was the first outing for the United War Veterans Council, Inc. Health and Wellness Program of 2019. We are off to a great start.

The mission of the United War Veterans Council is to honor and serve America’s veterans.

We are dedicated to ensuring that the public always embraces its commitment to provide all veterans and their families with the care, recognition and opportunities they have rightfully earned.

We work to achieve this goal by:

  • Supporting and promoting a wide range of initiatives that provide vital services to our veterans community (including health & wellness and legacy & education programs).
  • Raising positive awareness and increase understanding of the needs of our veterans, military service members and their families through major public events and promotional activities, including the New York City Veterans Day Parade, the largest event of its kind in the nation.
  • Uniting veterans groups, community organizations, city, state and federal agencies, local businesses, major corporations and the general public behind efforts to serve veterans of all eras.

We invite you to learn more about how we help veterans and to get involved in supporting our work!
