UWVC Health & Wellness Update – January 30, 2019

January 30, 2019

Today I hosted 4 veterans in the Navesink River area of NJ.

Big thanks to Umberto’s Pizzeria for providing our veterans with a delicious lunch. This afternoon our partners at Serenity Stables From Combat To Calm led a therapeutic riding session at ForeLuck Farm.

It was Benʼs last visit because Iʼm happy to say that heʼs graduating from the 4 step program at Samaritan Daytop Village. Ben had attended a half dozen equine sessions and this was his first opportunity to ride. Ben served in uniform with the U.S Army Infantry and is an Iraq/Afghanistan Veteran. Itʼs rewarding knowing that our program played a part in his recovery. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

The veterans that attended today represented the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. 3 were Post 9/11 Veterans and one served during the Cold War.

The transition to riding therapy continues to be very successful and feedback has been extremely positive.

_______________________________________________________________________________ The mission of the United War Veterans Council is to honor and serve America’s veterans.

We are dedicated to ensuring that the public always embraces its commitment to provide all veterans and their families with the care, recognition and opportunities they have rightfully earned.

We work to achieve this goal by:

  • Supporting and promoting a wide range of initiatives that provide vital services to our veterans community (including health & wellness and legacy & education programs).
  • Raising positive awareness and increase understanding of the needs of our veterans, military service members and their families through major public events and promotional activities, including the New York City Veterans Day Parade, the largest event of its kind in the nation.
  • Uniting veterans groups, community organizations, city, state and federal agencies, local businesses, major corporations and the general public behind efforts to serve veterans of all eras.

We invite you to learn more about how we help veterans and to get involved in supporting our work!
