The UWVC is fully aware of concerns expressed by a number of veterans regarding the 20th Anniversary of GWOT/Post-9/11 commemoration planned for September 30 at the Intrepid.
When these concerns were brought to our attention this past weekend, we began changing the event to ensure that all veterans who wish to attend will be able to take part, regardless of vaccination status.
We will release an update on these changes by the end of Friday, September 23.
The planning for this event began well before either the crisis in Afghanistan and the implementation of vaccination requirements for certain spaces in NYC. In making earlier adjustments, we did not adequately anticipate and address this particular issue.
Now more than ever, veterans must stand together to honor and remember our collective service and sacrifice. We ask you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these turbulent times.
