PETER GRIESH | Legal Counsel

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Griesch was born and raised on Long Island, NY.  

He is a 1997 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, and was commissioned a second lieutenant that same year.  

Upon receiving his Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law in 2000, he entered active duty.  

His duty assignments have included platoon commander, Company A, 6th Communications Battalion, prosecutor, defense counsel, appellate counsel, and military judge.  

After receiving a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, he left active duty and entered the civilian practice of law, and soon after joined the Marine Corps Reserve.  

He is currently the Reserve Regional Defense Counsel – East, and his area of responsibility includes Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, and Parris Island.  

In his civilian practice he is the Vice President of Tax Insurance for Berkley Transactional.  

He joined the Board of the United War Veterans Council in 2014 as Director and General Counsel. He has been married for seventeen years and has two children.

From 2005 to the present he has continued to serve as a Marine Reservist, holding various supervisory billets, including his current role as Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to United States Southern Command in Doral, Florida.

In March 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and in 2015, he was selected by the Judge Advocate General of the Navy to serve as a Military Trial Judge, a billet he held from 2015-2018. 

Adam previously served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Dickinson R. Debevoise, United States District Court – District of New Jersey. 

In addition to the UWVC, Adam is also a member of the Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
