The UWVC invites you to join us for our Fleet Week/Memorial Day event on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

We are bringing together veterans for a morning of wellness and commemorative activities, consisting of:

HONOR RUCK / WALK 
from the Intrepid Museum to the East Coast Memorial
8:30am – 10:45am (Approx 4.7 miles)
A social fitness activity, combining exercise, camaraderie, and remembrance!  Meet at the iconic aircraft carrier on the Upper West Side, to salute those who served in the Pacific during World War II.  Ruck or walk down to the East Coast Memorial in Battery Park for our ceremonial wreath laying (below); water and healthy snack bars will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE: all participants must be able to complete the walk unassisted; participants are also welcome to skip this activity and only attend the wreath ceremony.

WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
East Coast Memorial – Battery Park
11:00am – 12:00pm
Pay tribute to the American and Allied service members whose sacrifice won the Battle of the Atlantic and made possible the liberation of Europe during World War II.  Featuring senior military speakers and representatives of Allied nations, with full military honors and vocal performance by the American Bombshells.

POST-CEREMONY LUNCH
The Dubliner (walking distance from East Coast Memorial)
12:00pm – 2:00pm
Casual buffet pub lunch for Ruck / Walk participants and ceremony participants (no alcoholic beverages will be provided).

There is no fee to participate in this year’s event!  We do require lunch attendees to either participate in the ruck/walk or attend the Wreath Ceremony.
